The i-Aware innovation project was developed to address the issue of road accidents caused by drunk driving, aligning with the Smart Transportation (IR4.0) concept and SDG goals 3 and 13. Utilizing an ESP32 microcontroller and an MQ-3 gas sensor, the system rapidly and accurately detects the presence of alcohol vapors in the vehicle's environment. Upon detecting alcohol, the system triggers an early warning via an audible alarm (buzzer) and a 16x2 LCD display; simultaneously, it automatically halts the vehicle's movement and sends an emergency notification directly to the user's smartphone via Telegram. Overall, this IoT-based early warning technology has the potential to raise driver awareness, reduce accident rates, and sustainably safeguard the safety and well-being of road users.
