Dengue fever continues to be a major public health problem in endemic tropical regions, including Indonesia, due to its high transmission potential and dependence on environmental and behavioral factors. Effective prevention requires not only vector control but also public health literacy, particularly among adolescents who can act as agents of health promotion in school and community settings. However, conventional instructional approaches often provide limited opportunities for active engagement and may not sufficiently support conceptual understanding of disease transmission dynamics. To address this issue, Tale of the bloodstreams was developed as an interactive gamification-based learning medium for high school students, integrating dengue disease modeling with science education and health awareness. The system is designed to present core concepts of dengue transmission through simulation, visual representation, and decision-based learning activities. Students are exposed to variables related to mosquito breeding, environmental sanitation, infection risk, and preventive intervention, allowing them to observe the relationship between human behavior and disease spread. By embedding epidemiological concepts within a game-based framework, Tale of the bloodstreams aims to improve cognitive understanding, reinforce preventive attitudes, and encourage active participation in dengue control efforts. The media also supports contextual learning by linking biological principles with real-world public health challenges. This project is expected to provide an innovative educational tool that strengthens students’ understanding of dengue epidemiology while fostering health-conscious behavior. In broader terms, Tale of the bloodstreams contributes to the development of interactive science learning media that align with public health education objectives and adolescent engagement strategies.
