NV718: THE OCEAN PLASTIC SCANNER

MARYAM BINTI MUHAMAD AMIN SK KAMPONG RAJA

Terengganu faces severe plastic pollution threatening endangered sea turtles. To address this crisis and the lack of AI education in primary schools, our team developed The Ocean Plastic Scanner. Supported by research synthesised via NotebookLM, this project uses Google Teachable Machine to accurately distinguish marine life from plastic waste through livecam feeds. This innovation prevents accidental bycatch during future ocean cleanups. It empowers students as digital innovators while promoting environmental awareness and supporting SDG14 Life Below Water. The highly scalable prototype can be commercialised as an educational curriculum kit globally and is published online for the upcoming competition.
