Commercial chemical shampoos frequently rely on synthetic sulfates and artificial additives that cause hair damage, scalp dryness, and environmental water pollution. This project introduces an eco-friendly, multi-functional alternative formulated entirely from botanical materials: soapnut (Sapindus mukorossi), shikakai (Acacia concinna), almond gel (Prunus dulcis), curry leaves (Murraya koenigii), and black sesame (Sesamum indicum). Saponins from soapnut serve as a natural surfactant for gentle oil extraction, while shikakai acts as a low-pH conditioner to smooth hair cuticles. Almond gel functions as a hydrogel matrix to stabilize product viscosity and deliver deep moisture via Vitamin E. Antioxidants from curry leaves and essential minerals from black sesame are incorporated to strengthen roots and support natural hair pigmentation. Laboratory preparation involved aqueous decoction and lipid extraction to create a smooth, chemical-free herbal cleanser. Overall, this innovation demonstrates that plant-based formulations can successfully replace harsh synthetic detergents to provide a sustainable, safe, and effective solution for daily hair care.
