Rapid urbanization and population growth demand innovative, hygienic solutions for municipal and residential solid waste management. This project details the design and implementation of an Arduino Uno-based smart waste container engineered to optimize sanitation and operational efficiency. The system integrates dual HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensors, an SG90 servo motor for automated mechanical actuation, and a 16x2 I2C liquid crystal display. The primary sensor detects user proximity to facilitate contactless lid opening, effectively mitigating cross-contamination risks and the proliferation of pathogens. Concurrently, a secondary internal sensor continuously evaluates volumetric waste accumulation, categorizing capacity states into active, near-capacity, and full indicators. Real-time diagnostics are dynamically rendered on the integrated display interface to streamline maintenance protocols. Ultimately, this cost-effective, automated architecture provides a scalable framework to advance public health and smart city infrastructure.
