Traditional water metering systems lack real-time visibility, often leading to undetected pipe leakages, unmonitored excessive consumption, and high utility costs. This project presents AquaSense IoT, a smart water consumption monitoring and leak detection system designed to track water usage dynamically and promote resource conservation. Built around an ESP32 Wi-Fi microcontroller, the system uses a YF-S201 pulse-based water flow sensor to accurately calculate live flow rates (in liters/minute) and aggregate total water consumption.
The system features real-time local monitoring via a $16\times2$ LCD screen alongside an onboard LED status indicator system for immediate power, flow, and alert feedback. Simultaneously, data is transmitted over Wi-Fi to the Blynk cloud platform, displaying live flow rates, overall consumption history, and leak alerts on an interactive mobile app interface.
By automating leak identification and providing instant remote alerts for high usage, AquaSense IoT helps prevent water loss, reduce utility bills, and support smart living. Powered by a simple 5V DC adapter, this compact, cost-effective prototype offers an accessible solution for residential smart metering and sustainable water management.
