This study and experiment aimed to develop a sustainable, eco-friendly alternative to conventional whiteboard marker ink by using charcoal powder, used cooking oil, and other substances. Charcoal powder functioned as the pigment, used cooking oil as the primary binder, ethanol as the solvent to reduce viscosity, and gum Arabic as an additive. Multiple formulations and measurements were tested through several experimental rounds to achieve the desired ink consistency. The final ink was filled into empty marker cartridges and successfully tested on whiteboards, demonstrating good writability and erasability. The results confirm that this formulation is a viable, non-toxic alternative free from xylene, toluene, and heavy metals, supporting waste reduction and SDG goals through reuse and waste material.
