In the 21st-century education era, artificial intelligence is increasingly used in academic writing, but tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini can generate hallucinated citations and inaccurate information, risking academic integrity. To address this issue, we introduce CiteGuide, an educational innovation that detects and verifies AI-generated references using Crossref and OpenAlex. The platform assigns each citation a hallucination-risk score and provides a simple explanation of the results. For verified sources, CiteGuide automatically corrects and formats references in APA 7 style, including full references and in-text citations, helping students identify authentic sources and write with greater confidence.
