The increasing awareness of personal wellness, sustainable living, and the use of natural products highlights the importance of integrating wellness and sustainability concepts into education. This innovation introduces a natural sunscreen formulation based on Jasminum sambac flower extract and rice bran oil as an educational approach to promote wellness-oriented, experiential, and sustainability-based learning. Jasminum sambac flowers are subjected to hot-water extraction to obtain bioactive compounds containing phenolics and flavonoids with potential antioxidant properties, while rice bran oil provides natural emollient and photoprotective-supporting components such as γ-oryzanol and tocopherols. The formulation process incorporates fundamental concepts from biology, chemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutical technology, and environmental sustainability. Students can actively engage in the extraction, formulation, physicochemical evaluation, antioxidant assessment, and determination of Sun Protection Factor (SPF) using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Formulation optimization using Box–Behnken Design and Response Surface Methodology further introduces students to scientific problem-solving, experimental design, data analysis, and evidence-based decision-making. Through this innovation, the development of a botanical sunscreen serves not only as a potential wellness product but also as an integrated educational platform that connects scientific knowledge with real-life wellness and sustainability practices. The innovation is expected to enhance students’ scientific literacy, creativity, critical thinking, research skills, and awareness of personal and environmental wellness while encouraging the development of sustainable, nature-based solutions.
