Xpress Algebra(iXgeb): A Loan and Debt Repayment Game is an educational innovation specifically designed to help year 4, 5, and 6 primary students understand the basic concepts of algebra through a game-based approach inspired by real-life financial simulations. This innovation uses activities such as selling, loan repayment, and managing debt as the core mechanics in an interactive cardboard-based game, where students are required to solve financial scenarios using simple algebraic equations. The game is developed using a low-cost physical cardboard design, which is easy to produce and suitable for use in classrooms without the need for advanced technology. Through roleplay activities, students use the variable "X" to represent debt amounts or remaining balances and complete transactions by understanding the relationships between total debt, payment, balance, and selling price. This approach supports the development of Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) or kemahiran berfikir aras tinggi (KBAT) and helps students connect algebra to real-life situations. The innovation has the potential to make a significant impact on mathematics education at the primary level by making abstract concepts more tangible, engaging, and meaningful. In addition to enhancing students' mastery of algebra, the game also promotes basic financial literacy among learners. From a market potential perspective, this game can be expanded and distributed to primary schools throughout Malaysia as a cost-effective and impactful teaching and learning aid. Financially, the innovation is budget-friendly and modular, while from a technological standpoint, it uses a creative physical approach that does not require digital infrastructure. The game also has the potential to be developed into a digital version in the future for extended gamification. In conclusion, Xpress Algebra: A Loan and Debt Repayment Game offers an innovative, practical, and high-impact approach by combining elements of gameplay, everyday financial concepts, and algebra learning in a fun and meaningful educational experience.
