Global Voices: AI Persona Lab (Consumer Persona Chatbot & Virtual Shopping Simulation) transforms content-heavy modules into immersive, interactive learning. First piloted in a Consumer Behaviour course at a Malaysian college, the Lab connects students with lifelike persona chatbots that mirror generational, cultural, and behavioural diversity. These personas deliver emotionally attuned, contextually relevant viewpoints, turning passive lectures into inquiry-led, experiential dialogue. The aims extend beyond grades: the Lab cultivates empathy, strengthens critical thinking, and builds cross-cultural sensitivity. Designed to be tool-agnostic and web-accessible, the framework scales easily across disciplines and class sizes. Under the hood, amongst several AI capabilities, GPT-4o powers natural language understanding and generation, ElevenLabs provides natural voice rendering, and Deepgram ensures accurate voice recognition, together enabling dynamic, unpredictable yet on-topic exchanges. Students then analyse their conversations using structured theoretical models and convert insights into practical outputs such as product concepts, marketing strategies, or campaign prototypes. The Lab’s distinguishing strength is its fusion of AI-driven persona dialogue, gamified decision-making, and culturally rich simulations. This combination elevates engagement while developing adaptable, human-centred skills that employers value. Current results indicate clear gains in student performance and teaching effectiveness, positioning Global Voices as a compelling, scalable model for AI-enhanced education.
