EcoPot Sawit is an environmentally friendly innovation developed to replace conventional plastic polybags used in plant nurseries. The project transforms oil palm fibre waste into a 100% biodegradable planting pot, offering a sustainable alternative that helps reduce plastic pollution while adding value to agricultural waste.

Malaysia is one of the world's largest producers of palm oil, generating millions of tonnes of oil palm biomass every year. Among these by-products is oil palm fibre, which is often burned, discarded, or underutilized despite its excellent natural properties.

Recognizing these two issues, our team developed EcoPot Sawit as a practical solution that addresses both agricultural waste management and plastic pollution simultaneously. By converting oil palm fiber into biodegradable planting pots, the project supports the principles of the circular economy, where waste materials are reused to create valuable products instead of becoming environmental burdens.
